Body Conscious

Ok so recently there has been a lot of controversy in the news about Topshop mannequins being extremely small and giving out bad body image. Yes this is bad but imagine if shops did only use "bigger" mannequins then the slimmer people of the world would also feel like they are being judged etc. Body image is such a strong thing and everyone needs to realise that we are not all the same size. I feel as though I'm being a little patronising with that sentence and I promise I'm not trying to be.

I do work within a fashion retailer and there are many times I have heard people complain about items of clothing being pinned to fit the mannequins and there are perfectly good reasons for this. Most mannequins are designed to fit a size 8 or 10 in women's clothing. Now due to popular demand in stores the best product is not always available so it is not possible to dress the mannequins in the sizes that fit them so of course we opt to keep the best product on show by using bigger sizes but pinning them to fit so that customers will see how the item looks on. Fashion and its retailers will always be under scrutiny about body image and the messages people believe they are trying to convey.

We all have parts of our bodies that we aren't happy with. If you know your friends body hang ups why don't you compliment them on it and hopefully they would return the favour. Perhaps this way we can all start to feel better about ourselves and be accepting of who we are.

I know this has been a an extremely ranty post and I apologise but I strongly believe we should all be conscious of people's feelings in this area. Complaining about things being made for only "skinny" people or only "bigger" people will just cause upset. We should love ourselves and each other for who we are no matter what size or shape. We are all beautiful.

I also want to apologise for my lack of posting. I have been a little out of touch with my blogging self as I didn't feel like I was contributing much. However, I hope that this post helps at least one of you to accept and love yourself and others. Its taken myself a while to do but I promise you it is so worth it and you feel more carefree (at least I do).

Monochrome Magic

Top: Topshop, Jeans: USC, Boots: River Island

So I haven't done an outfit post for a while, main reasons being I am constantly working and in the process of moving. Thus, unfortunately I haven't had much time to dress up in nice clothes worthy of blogging about. I fell in love with this monochrome top from Topshop, I just couldn't help myself when buying it. I don't usually wear tops that are as patterened as this but the monochrome really sold it for me as I also don't have a lot of that. It was raining last night hence the jeans, otherwise I would have paired this top with my trusty black bodycon (can never go wrong with something you know you can always wear). The boots from River Island are just beautiful! These were a definite investment buy as I know I will wear them time and again! I love the detailing on the shoes, it just adds something different to them.

My make up look for the night was an easy choice to make as many of you know I have a little obsession with purple, so I decided to use Mua cosmetics Smokin Palette and create a purple smokey eye, I think it worked quite well. I obviously didn't want a strong lip with such a bold eye, therefore, I chose my limited edition No 7 lipstick in Winter Berry.

Hope you all like it, love xx

Toughened Up Girly

Jacket: River Island (Few months old), Top: Topshop (Few months old), Skirt: Miss Selfridge (Old), Boots: Topshop (Old) and Necklace: New Look (Fairly new).

This is my first outfit post in a while and I decided to go a little more in-depth with my outfit pictures. I picked this outfit today as it is still slightly summery for autumn this week. I'm loving the last few rays of sunshine (although my legs can't take the slight chill hence the tights!).

I've had this skirt for almost a year now and I've been trying to find things to go with it for almost that long! I love the Aztec pattern on it and the colour is so nice and it goes with autumn in my eyes.

I decided to toughen up my outfit with my favourite studded jacket, its not too hot for a jacket or too cold either and I think this one is the right amount of cover in this weather! Of course my Chelsea Boots help to also toughen up the girly parts of the outfit :)

Hope you like this outfit as much as I do! (Had a lot of fun picking it out!) :)

Love xx

Purple Obsession

As most of my friends know I love the colour purple, so when one of my favourite bloggers Copper Garden opened her own shop with hand dyed clothes I just had to have a purple kimono! (I've been after a kimono anyway, so why not incorporate my favourite colour with my slight obsession for tie dye! The perfect kimono for me :) yay!)

The order process was quick and simple, and considering Copper Garden is dying these from scratch they arrive pretty quickly too! So very impressed and will definitely purchase from there again! Recommend to anyone :)

You can find the shop here.

Hope you like the stuff as much as I do! Xx

Wishlist!

My wishlist will consist of clothing and a hope for a job! Being a recent graduate is harder than I thought it would be when I signed up to go to university three years ago! It was made to sound that getting a job would be so much easier with a degree! I really wish it was that simple, feels like all I have been doing is filling out applications and going to interviews, and still nothing. So a wishlist of all the clothes I would like to buy when I finally find a job will have to suffice for now, instead of the actual clothes!

I won't use the pictures from the websites as I do not want to have a copyright infringement, instead I will set up links to take you to the items I am loving at the moment! :)

Crop Top - Hype @ Topshop
Kimono - Topshop
T-shirt - River Island
Boots - Missguided
Disco Pants - Missguded

These are just a few things I have been loving at the moment! No doubt I will come across more! Seem to always find clothes when I have no money.

Hope you love these pieces too! xx
